Teaching Every Student in the Digital Age
David H. Rose and Anne Meyer have written a very comprehensive and easy to read book on Universal Design for Learning. Teaching Every Student in the Digital Age, describes teaching methods that support brain research using the UDL framework with an emphasis on technology. The book has a companion website at www.cast.org/TeachingEveryStudent offering professional learning communities an opportunity to discuss the content in a variety of ways. Even if you have a good understanding of UDL, you will want to read the book either online or in hardcopy. Let me know what you think by posting a comment to this blog.

Today's emphasis on reading & literacy often forgets that learning does not necessarily require a book or the written word.
While the printed page has been our most useful mode of communication for hundreds of years-the inability of some individuals to process that source should not preclude their ability to learn and thrive. Today's technology advances provide a wealth of communication tools that make learning w/o reading more accessible and should serve to broaden our sense of teaching/learning. While "TES in the DA" touts technology, my experience with UDL has broadened my outlook to include a wide range of alternative teaching/learning techniques that do not require high end equipment.
